CeNSE Summer School Experience

I am thrilled to share my experience of successfully completing the Summer School Program on Semiconductor Technology and Micro Fabrication at the Centre for Nano Science and Engineering (CeNSE), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore.

This intensive two-week program covered a broad spectrum of topics related to the semiconductor industry, providing hands-on exposure and theoretical insights into advanced fabrication techniques.

Key Topics Covered

  • Wafer Cleaning: Understanding the removal of contaminants from wafer surfaces to ensure defect-free microdevices.
  • Clean Room and Safety: Learning strict protocols to maintain a contamination-free environment and ensure personnel safety.
  • Deposition: Exploring techniques like Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) and Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) for material layering.
  • Lithography: Studying the process of pattern transfer using photomasks and light-sensitive chemicals.
  • Etching Process: Gaining insights into isotropic and anisotropic etching methods for material removal.
  • TCAD Simulations: Understanding the use of Technology Computer-Aided Design (TCAD) tools to model and analyze semiconductor fabrication processes.
  • MEMS Packaging: Learning about micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) and their protection techniques.
  • Electrical Characterization: Measuring and analyzing the electrical properties of semiconductor devices.

Research Talks & Expert Insights

The program featured insightful research talks from esteemed faculty members and experts on various cutting-edge topics, including:

  • Gallium Nitride Electronics
  • Neural Networks & AI in Semiconductor Technology
  • Silicon Technology for Next-Generation Devices
  • Quantum Phenomena in Materials
  • Neuromorphic Materials
  • Advanced Batteries & Energy Storage
